Into the deep end

I turn 40 this year.
We established Caydev back in 2013 with the intention of building great things for our community and ourselves. That was 13 years ago. For most of that time, I've worked a full-time job. Not a 9-5, but 7:30-6, and weekends. All while trying to build something on the side.
For the past several years, I was Senior Manager of Marketing Technology at an international law firm, managing a stack of over 5 enterprise-level systems and leading a global team. It was good work. Stable. But having a full-time job while trying to build something really does turn those side projects into hobbies. We never could dedicate the time needed to truly build something great.
Yes, we need the job and income security to put food on the table, gas in the car, pay for school fees, and go on vacation when needed. But that's all the 9-5 job would do.
The goals I had as a budding computer geek in school sometimes feel farther and farther away.
If there was ever a time to get back into the build, it is now.
I spent the past 2 years following every release of the AI advancements, and with my background in Computer Engineering and a not-so-secret obsession with tech innovations, I've thrown myself into all things AI. It's the most exciting thing in my time as a technologist. Even bigger than when Crypto started making millionaires out of people who lived down the road.
Caydev started as a development company building new technologies. Now we've pivoted to something that feels right for this moment: an AI-first software studio, building AI tools for small businesses and everyday people.
So I've decided to fully commit. I'm taking the biggest risk I can to see if I can make Caydev work. I'm going to focus on building and innovating, with the goal of creating something not only lucrative, but meaningful and (lack of better terms) cool.
I have never been more excited to get back to what I've always wanted to do.
Engineer something great.
I'll be posting more about my experiences, what I come across, and my opinions on the AI world. Looking forward to contributing more, even if it's just real feedback from a real person, and not another bot account.
I've put off launching this entrepreneurial venture for too long.
Now is the time.
